Giving the Gift of Joy

Christmas is supposed to be a time of happiness and hope as we celebrate the birth of our Savior with family and friends. For many people on the First Coast, however, hunger, poverty and the cold prevent them from experiencing the joy of the season. With your help, The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida brings the miracle of Christmas to thousands of people each year through a variety of community programs.

Red Kettle Campaign

Be a part of a historical and international tradition by volunteering to ring a bell at one of our kettle locations this holiday season! You can volunteer as an individual or a group. Contact Ashlee Casey, our Kettle Coordinator, for more information at 904-301-4852. or fill out an interest form at the bottom of this page.

Turkey Drive

You can share the joy of Thanksgiving by donating a fresh or frozen turkey to help feed those folks who may otherwise go hungry on Thanksgiving Day. We will accept turkey donations in November. Check back as Thanksgiving approaches for more details.

Thanksgiving Grocery Bags

Our Food Pantry distributes Thanksgiving bags each November so families can enjoy a wonderful home-cooked meal for this holiday. Please consider providing items for families in need... they will be so thankful.
  • Whole Turkey (frozen) or turkey breast
  • Cans of cranberry sauce
  • Cans of green beans
  • Cans of cream of mushroom soup
  • Cans of french-fried onions
  • Boxes of stuffing
  • Cans of sweet potatoes
  • Brown sugar
  • Miniature marshmallows
  • Cans of regular or creamed corn
  • Rolls (fresh or frozen)
  • Frozen pies (cannot be homemade)

Angel Tree

Through this program, thousands of children get to experience the delight of opening gifts on Christmas day. The Angel Tree, displayed at Orange Park Mall and NE Florida businesses, holds the names of children for whom you or your group/company can purchase new clothing and toys. Interested in adopting a family of children, or a large quantity of angels? Call (904) 301-4782 for more information.

Toy Shop

A makeshift Christmas toy shop is temporarily set up during the month of December and pre-registered families have appointments to pick up their Angel bags filled with toys, clothing and stockings for their children. Consider donating new toys and clothing to fill up this magical shop.

Christmas Stockings

Individuals, families, churches, businesses and civic groups from the community volunteer to stuff stockings full of toys and non-perishable items for needy children in Northeast Florida.
