To prevent and reduce the incidence of homelessness in Sarasota County through providing emergency financial assistance.
Hours of Operation: 8 a.m. – Noon (12 p.m.) and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
For Assistance with utilities, rents or mortgages: First you must be pre-screened by United Way 211. Once you talk with United Way, they will send us your referral. To get a referral from United Way dial 211 or call 308-HELP (308-4357). United Way will send The Salvation Army your information and we will call to schedule appointments – in the order in which we received the referral.
Financial Eligibility: Most services require the person or family applying to be low income (which means gross income at or below 150% of Federal Poverty Level during the last 30 day period.) Most families who have experienced a financial crisis will qualify for some assistance. Types of services available include:
- Rent/mortgage assistance
- Utilities assistance
- Emergency clothing
- Angel Tree Christmas gifts for children
- Camp Keystone for children
- Summer Camp scholarships
- Work tools and work uniforms
