    Provides stable care to foster children and is entrusted with the direct care of up to six children in each Village home. The Child Care worker will work with Village Parents to implement and continue activities, scheduling and routines necessary for a safe, healthy and sanitary environment, that meets health department regulations.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides for continuation of home rules and plans of the Village Parent. This is done through educational, moral, and spiritual development of all children, in the home through planned activities. Forms of informal communication, role modeling, behavior in the day-to-day activities. An emphasis on trauma-informed care for children who have been abused, abandoned or neglected. Distributing approved medications to children as required. Completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion. Prepare family style meals with input and provision of supplies from the Village Parent. Responsible for the safety and sanitation of the home at all times. Monitors and requests assistance if any areas endanger the safety and welfare of any person in the home. Nurtures children so that their physical, emotional, and mental health needs are met on a daily basis, and assist them to develop trusting relationships. Transports children as needed in agency vehicles. Represent the Village to the community at large, which supports the image and the Mission of the Salvation Army. Establishes and maintains an atmosphere that promotes and encourages teamwork, interdependence and ethical behavior. It is a requirement to obtain or have a current, certification in CPR, First Aid, and all other required training classes. 40 hours of training is required within the calendar year. Also required is to obtain prior/and/or on onset of hiring the Professional Parenting Training, needed for continuation of compliance. Must pass background screenings including drug test, FBI fingerprinting check, FDLE criminal check, Local Law checks, Civil Court records search driving history check, child abuse and neglect registry check. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED: And/or Two years documented experience with children. The job requires exposure to varying temperatures and weather patterns. The candidate will be required to take several Salvation Army training classes, including disaster training and Safe from Harm. Required to adhere to all the policies and procedures of The Salvation Army and the employee manual. This job does require assistance in the maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles.
