Celebrating 40 years of Project SHARE and neighbors helping neighbors
You may already be familiar with The Salvation Army. Our Red Kettle campaign during the holidays, disaster relief after a storm, and donation trucks passing through your neighborhoods have become visual representations of how we have served communities for 160 years.
But there’s something uniquely special about the way we serve Georgia you may not know: Project SHARE.
Since 1985, The Salvation Army's Project SHARE has provided emergency assistance to Georgians who need help with basic necessities—including housing and utility services.
An estimated 45 percent of Georgia households live below the poverty threshold. For these families and more, one unexpected life event can create a financial crisis, forcing difficult choices like paying the utility bill or putting food on the table. Paying rent or filling important prescriptions.
This Salvation Army’s Project SHARE program has inspired neighbors to help their own neighbors for forty years, generating more than $91 million in life-changing assistance and providing priceless relief to thousands of families.
