    Provides stable, long-term respite care to foster children at assigned Children’s Village homes during the absence of the regular Children’s Village Parent. Works closely with the regular Village Parent and professional staff to continue to ensure the educational, medical and emotional treatment needs of the children are met; respects the religious and cultural background of each child. Follows through and implements the established schedule and routine developed by the Children’s Village Parent for a safe, healthy, comfortable home environment. Maintains the confidentiality of the children placed in the Village home. This person may be called upon to cover any home during holidays, sick leave, and vacation times.

    Required KSAs:
    • The Associate Village Parent must have an understanding of child development and is able to utilize this knowledge in developing individual plans for each child in relation to skill development and to behavior management. The Village Parent, will be responsible for administering the budget for the home and implementing the scheduling and structure necessary for a safe, healthy, sanitary environment. Ensures integration into other Salvation Army Services. Assists with maintaining the cleanliness and order of the home. Also enforces the implementation of established routines and schedules for orderly, safe, clean operation of the household; reports any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel for timely repairs. Is responsible to provide transportation in The Salvation Army vehicles to school, activities and appointments. Monitors school attendance and progress; records special needs and accomplishments.
    • This position requires a high level of integrity, interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and provides for the moral and spiritual development of the all children in the home through planned activities, informal communication, and role modeled behavior. Provides guidance and values the need for quality educational experience and the need to live within a community as good moral citizen’s.
    • This position does require a Valid Florida driver’s license, acceptable driving record per The Salvation Army’s vehicle Insurance requirements. This job does require a full background screening, (FDLE), criminal check, local law checks, drug screening, child abuse and neglect registry, CPR, and First Aid Certification. Must be able to maintain Serv Safe ® Food handler certification by the The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services, and all other ongoing certifications required by the organization’s policies and procedures, and Divisional of Children’s Families (DCF).

    • Plans, coordinates, participates, supervises and evaluates the day-to-day operations of a food services program; plans and develops menus; purchases food and maintains an adequate level of inventory for program needs; prepares and administers a food budget; ensures food service program operates in compliance with health standards and regulations; Maintains kitchen operations in compliance with contractual obligations. Supervises, schedules, evaluates, and participates in the work of kitchen personnel including the cooking and serving of meals
    • Plans, schedules, assigns, participates, and supervises the work of subordinate personnel; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with recipes, quality standards and health regulations; conducts performance evaluations and provides salary and hiring/firing recommendations. Responsible for supervision of all food service staff of the Area Command, Red Shield Lodge, Sallie House and other remote sites. Purchases food and commodities in appropriate quantities and at economical prices; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with the food budget; serves as liaison to food service vendors. Plans menus and selects recipes ensuring nutritionally balanced meals; coordinates with nutritionists as required by contract.
    • Supervises, monitors, and participates in the cooking and presentation of meals to ensure compliance with recipes and health standards; ensures appropriate utilization of surplus and leftovers. Supervises and participates in the maintenance and organization of the food and kitchen supplies inventory; ensures inventory is maintained at adequate level and that food is properly rotated and discarded when necessary.
    • Prepares and maintains statistical records of meals serviced and donations received. Monitors kitchen, pantry and dining areas to ensure continued compliance with safety and sanitary regulations. Cleans, cooks, and prepares a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods. Ensures that enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is prepared in a timely manner as scheduled. Serves food and beverages in a presentable manner; prepares plates for infants or persons requiring additional assistance. Prepares and packages food for disaster services when required. Receives and processes donations. Coordinates arrangements and supervises activities for special events.

    • Accepts and processes residents staying in residential center e overnight; receives and receipts fees received from residents; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance with house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that lodge is maintained in a neat and proper order. Monitors the activities of the residential center residents ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; checks the security of all windows and doors; makes periodic rounds of entire facility; records any situations involving incident reports, violations of policy/procedure or other out-of-the-ordinary occurrences on assigned shift. Prepares and distributes meal tickets; distributes towels, linens, and personal hygiene items.
    • Receives, receipts and processes payments for program service fees and updates intake cards as needed; obtains clients signature on forms, including residential center rules and regulations. Walks the perimeter of the property as assigned, directing loiterers and ensuring the security of the facility.
    • Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates appropriate action, including corrective action, in accordance with established policy and procedures. This position requires basic office procedure knowledge and practices of general reports needed for monitoring of the clients. Requires ability to meet attendance requirements and communicate the English language as the primary language. Should have some crises intervention skills. Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for Level II background check and motor vehicle requirements for the organizations insurance system.
