The Salvation Army, First National Bank Team Up for Back-to-School Bash

PITTSBURGH (July 9, 2025) – The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Homewood-Brushton Worship and Service Center will host a Back-to-School Bash for local students in Pittsburgh, Penn Hills and Wilkinsburg School Districts, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. During the event, presented by First National Bank (FNB), the largest subsidiary of F.N.B. Corporation, hundreds of backpacks with school supplies will be distributed to area families. The bash will kick off at Noon and run until 3 p.m. at The Salvation Army’s Pittsburgh Homewood-Brushton Worship and Service Center, located at 8020 Frankstown Avenue.

“We are so grateful for FNB’s support of this year’s back-to-school bash,” Captain Michael Haynes local Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army, said. “It is so important to equip students with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Thank you for helping students start the new school year off on the right path.”

Assistance is open to all students entering grades K-12 residing in ZIP code areas 15147, 15201, 15203, 15206, 15208, 15213, 15215, 15219, 15221, 15222, 15223, 15224, 15230, 15231, 15232, 15235, 15240 and 15260. Registration is required in advance by calling 412-242-1435 or click here to fill out the following online form. The deadline to register is Friday, August 8 and students must be present on the day of the event. Barbers will be on site to give students fresh haircuts for the school year and children will have the opportunity to receive new school uniforms and clothing, as resources allow. There will also be food and refreshments, along with fun family activities. Additionally, staff will be onsite to help families register for seasonal assistance throughout the Christmas season.
