Harbor House Transitional Housing is a state licensed chemical dependency program for single parent (mothers or fathers) homeless families seeking self-sufficiency. Harbor House provides an integrated environment that encourages confidence and independence through recovery, workforce development, education / skills enhancement, self sufficiency, and individual and family counseling.

Harbor House staff is committed to sustaining families. Staff facilitates change within the families through a professional therapeutic process. Harbor House also offers employment guidance, job preparation, parenting class referrals, reunification court advocacy, and criminal justice court advocacy. Through partnerships, Harbor House is able to bridge the housing gap between primary chemical dependency programs, economic uncertainty, and single parent families in need; veterans, men, and women qualify for our services. Harbor House has a veterans program, again, with the same criteria as listed above, and is working with newly returned men and women, with children, who have served our country.

Harbor House provides an environment that encourages self-esteem and independence. We also provide workforce development including job fairs, employer presentations, resumes, employment guidance, first source employers, retention guidance, job board, job preparation, computer lab, skills enhancement, and linkages to training/education. Additionally, we offer on site child therapy, parenting classes, reunification help, facilitation of process groups, and weekly house meetings, along with family oriented activities.

Harbor House Re-Entry Mission

Our mission is to create and deliver integrated solutions to profound social problems. Since 1991, The Salvation Army Harbor House has developed and operated housing, provided chemical dependency treatment, workforce solutions, and other supportive services to single parent families who are homeless.

Our purpose is to make a positive and lasting impact on families in recovery, living unsheltered, and in poverty. Harbor House Program engages families and communities to build assets to achieve greater independence.

Harbor House Child Care Center is a program designed to give your child Early Fundamental Learning experiences. The program is based upon the growth and developmental needs of children from infancy through age five years. It provides important, foundational experiences which foster growth and development in all areas of early learning. Positive, engaging early learning experiences are crucial to support future school success for young children. Harbor House Child Care Center recognizes this importance and strives to provide the best possible care and education for all children enrolled.

HHCCC Policy Statement
It is the policy of Harbor House Child Care Center that each child will be respected and accommodated for his/her own individual and unique potential. The program is designed to promote the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of each child and to admit children without regard to race, sex, creed, national origin, religious affiliation or physical ability.

Curriculum Philosophy
PLAY IS THE BASIS OF ALL CURRICULUM AT HARBOR HOUSE CHILD CARE CENTER!
We believe that a child's play is the foundation of all learning. A child learns best when all five senses are involved and the ideas are relevant to their daily lives. This is why we follow an Emergent Curriculum philosophy: focusing on the child's interest as learning activities are developed. Basic skills and concepts that are necessary for entry into higher grade levels are incorporated into all activities.
