Overview
The Lighthouse Corps provides the spiritual guidance and counselling needs of the Harbor Light Center residents and surrounding community. At the heart of every Salvation Army function is the church upon which this great organization was founded. The Corps delivers regular Sunday services, offers Bible studies and Sunday School classes, youth development programs, nursing home visits, and many other community based services intended to help people who are in need of spiritual guidance.

Chapel Service: Sundays at 11:00 AM

Homeless Outreach
Our homeless outreach program is designed to provide basic care for those in need on the street. We deliver food and much needed supplies (socks, balnkets, etc.) three night as week, and on Sunday mornings outside of our Chapel. We meet the peopl we serve one-on-one and through this contact we build trust. If a persone we meet calls for help to braek their cycle of homelessness or addiction, we are able to help them change their lives. Only through this direct, in person ministry, do opportunities to like these manifest themselves. We are in the business of saving souls. we never forget that every person on the street is someone's child, perhaps just lost and needing a safe place to recover.
The Lighthouse Corps takes to the street 2 nights a week to bring food, clothing, and hygiene supplies to the homeless people living in the Tenderloin, Civic Center, Haight, and South of Market (SOMA) neighborhoods of San Francisco. The Homeless Outreach Program is carried out by Harbor Lighthouse Corps Officers (Pastors) and dedicated and compassionate volunteers. Sandwiches, basic meat and cheese with condiment packets and a napkin wrapped up with them, are made on site at the Harbor Light Center by volunteers and then delivered during the evening Outreaches in these hard hit areas.
In 2011 the Corps saw over 1,100 volunteers donate 8,800 plus hours to deliver over 85,000 sandwiches and hot meals, 14,541 items of clothing, and 10,061 comfort kits and gifts to the chronically homeless of San Francisco. This may sound like a lot, and it is, but the real mission is one of humble compassion through human interaction. Each person we meet, as they are handed a sandwich and maybe a fresh pair of socks, is greeted respectfully and kindly; perhaps the only kindness they have seen in their whole day. It is the mission of the Outreach Program to bring dignity to the people we meet and in that way live up to the teachings of Jesus Christ in our lives.
