Meals Programs
Meals That Heal
Meals That Heal program provides home delivered meals to a growing population of homebound individuals who, due to incapacitating disabilities and illness, are unable to leave their home and shop for food or travel to one of The Salvation Army's congregate meal sites. The San Francisco Meals that Heal program offers hot, nutritious meals Monday through Friday plus a weekend bag of groceries for those who need it.
This program is much more than a simple meal delivery. It provides a valuable link to the outside world for program participants. For many, it is the only human contact they receive each day and this personal touch builds friendships that last for years. Program staff & volunteers provide visitations and assess the physical and emotional state of the individual and arrange for further assistance when necessary, including wheelchairs, social services, walkers, refrigerators, clothing, blankets, mattresses and much more.
