SF Kroc Center Celebrates 7th Annual Halloween Carnival

By Katherine Au, Marketing & Sales Manager—SF Kroc
Tenderloin children and families look forward to the Kroc Halloween Carnival every year as it is a safe and fun community event and this year, close to 600 children and their families from the Tenderloin district of San Francisco attended The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center’s 7th Annual Halloween Carnival on October 24th. It was a night filled with lots of fun and excitement.
Children and families munched on hot dogs, nachos, and cotton candy as they visited the assorted carnival booths such as bowling, sharp shooter, mini golf, go fishing, and more. Members of Bethany Church on the Hill led by Terrence Sutton (former Kroc Sports and Recreation Director) visited the Kroc Center all the way from Thousand Oaks, California, and provided a gospel booth presenting a wonderful pirate show for the children to watch. Many student volunteers from the University of San Francisco's Phi Delta Theta fraternity and business service learning groups also helped to make the carnival possible.

New this year to the Halloween Carnival was a photo booth where carnival go-ers could take pictures with the Kroc Center’s mascot, R. J. Kroc, who was dressed up as Count Kroc-ula. Other highlights of the event included a costume contest, a bounce house, and a friendly visit from officers of the San Francisco Police Department’s Tenderloin Station.
